Wanted to tie up some Honey Dun flymphs but didn't have any hackle that color (closest I had was cream). Grabbed a furniture touch-up pen (the lightest of the set of 3 is kinda tan)
and went from this
to this
to this
May not be a perfect match but it'll do and I doubt the fish will care.
Regards,
Scott

Looks great Scott. I have been forced to do the same thing with Green for the Green Drakes. Mine look no where near as good as yours, but the fish ate them as well. You do a fantastic job with your tying and photography sir!

Pretty cool Scott! I wonder how it'll stand up in water?
Welcome to the forum by the way

Very nice first post.

It seems to me that with judicious use of the marker, various shades of badger should be achievable as well.
Welcome to the forum; I enjoy your SBS's elsewhere.

Scott, this is a beautiful pattern and very nicely tied, however you achieved the color. The use of this market to get the tones you wanted just makes it that much more interesting. I have one of those markers, what I'm missing is a cream cape. =)
Bob, you're right about adding a list, etc. I've seen that done with pantone markers. Eric, I believe the market should hold up very well, as others do, but I haven't tested these particular markets...yet.
This is a nice pattern. Beautiful coordinated. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Scott,
Are colors of the Guardsman pen permanent? That is, when the fly is used, will the colors dissolve away? I'm familiar with Pantone color pens, which are permanent, but not with Guardsman furniture markers. Thanks...

Scott,
Welcome to this forum! You will like it here esp. when you post goodies like this one! Years ago, I tied a very similar pattern to yours and called it a "Tan Flymph". I did well with it and still do. I like what you did with the furniture marker and a cream hen feather. The color is esp. desirable. That wonderful, medium tan color. Excellent! The pattern you posted looks very fishy and I am sure will be a hit where ever it lights down! Great job and keep them coming!
Fellow Flympher,
Doug D.
Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Thanks all for the nice welcome. Zen Leecher suggested I check this forum out and I'm glad I did.
Pretty sure the marker is waterproof; I'll see if I can find the spec sheet on it. I've got a few SBSs to post; just have to re-size the pics down to 800x600.
Regards,
Scott
