Rodger - I have no idea what size hook this is listed as. I am guessing it is probably a 10/0 hook. The length (end-to-end) is three inches!
Lance -

Nah, I'm saving this one for our Salt Water Flymph Swap. (kidding)
Thank you all for your kind responses.

"Bigger boat"..... not to mention a #15 weight plus rod. You should see if there are any pole vault sticks left to spare after the Olympics, should be a grand blank for a project rod of the sizes required!
Great looking softie though Ray..... just don't think of how many ordinary size flies all that herl could have produced.
I tied a similar tribute to Mark fly soon after he "left" the forum to debate soft hackle virtues with a loftier crowd ( you can picture him asking the big guy...... "you dig?"), mine isn't a soft hackle as such, contains around a dozen different species of bird feathers, a few beads and some synthetic......... hangs above my computer desk.

Very nicely done Ray!
If anyone has ever tried to tie a trout fly on a hook this big before, you know it is very difficult to do and make it look nice.
I have a big hook I've been putting off tying on for a while. might have to give it a go. I thought of using it as a display when I do demonstrations.
Again Ray...nicely done.

VERN-O - Good one! If that's the case, maybe I should name it "Snagus Maximus!"
Donald - I love your naming suggestion. Very cool.
Thanks guys. I am enjoying the humor in each post. Great creativity.
