Sorry, didnt mean to confuse. I do not have a dog in this fight. I have tryed UV materials when tying, and have not noticed a difference in my catch ratio. I am not saying UV materials are good or bad. I am completely indifferent. You use them, others do not. It's my opinion that confidence in a pattern is more important than the material it is tyed with.

I find it amusing that UV has struck such a cord in the participants of this thread.

I read that part of your post and knew he would not stay quiet. I went and tyed a few Buckskin nymphs, came back and saw that I was correct. That struck me as very funny. I think you did a good job of baiting him, but I am somewhat certain that was not your intention.

No, I wasn't using bait on a fly forum.
As for using UV materials, as far as I have seen materials that are tagged "UV" are fluorescent. Fluorescence is when UV light strikes an object and is re-emitted as visible light. When I was speaking of UV reflectance, that is not visible to most humans (except as small children who can, a recent study shows, see UV. Next time a small child says "See that blue thing, Daddy?" he may have something.
