They look to be a very very close match -RickA wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2019 11:13 amWait... are you saying Dai-Riki is discontinuing their line of hooks, phasing out certain model numbers,Trifly wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2019 7:00 am I am in the Wholesale Fly Company camp as well. I have started replacing my now discontinued Dai-Riki stock with them.
or you just like Wholesale Fly better?
Hemostats, or a jewelers file work fine.....daringduffer wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2019 5:33 amYou have to 'roll' those brittle barbs down by 'squeezing' them from the tip towards the bend of the hook in order to avoid breaking them. The easiest way to do this is to use pliers with bent jaws. The difficult part is to find such pliers that are fine enough. You probably need to modify a pair.Bazzer69 wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2019 10:13 pm I like some of the older hooks as well, but I have had problems with them breaking when I try to pinch the barb down. Those are just too brittle.

When you grip the hook with the pliers the lower jaw is supposed to be still and the upper jaw should move towards the hook bend, squeeezing the barb down in the process.
Clear as mud??

With the very old Hardy hooks that I have there is no way pinching the barbs down works, a broken hook every time. Iβm not the only one who uses a Dremel to remove the barbs. Itβs a fine tool in both sensesTrifly wrote: Mon Jun 24, 2019 8:16 pm If I ever have to take a dremel to a hook, I will know right then I have been cheated. So weird
