March Dun

Hook - Mustad 3399 or equivalent
Thread - Black
Tag - Flat gold tinsel
Body - Medium green wool, picked out
Wing - Light slate

Trout - Ray Bergman

As simple as this fly looks, I tied it 3 times to get it right. The duck quills I have are just crap to work with. I ended up using wing primary feather quills from a matched pair of Eurasian Jay. A nice light slate color.

Just an observation..., but I'd love to see your version of 'crap' and the first two attempts. My guess is, they were spectacular. It may be a 'simple' fly to you, but to my eye, it borders on the sublime. Nicely done, Norm. Nicely done.

Norm,
I'm glad this happens to other folks other than me! A sheer disaster but, kinda comical too! We know that you regroup and recoup with the best of them! Keep them coming sir!
