Re: Frustrating tools
Mike62, you’re absolutely right and I love tinkering with this stuff. Back in the early 80’s I bought a bear archery whitetail hunter compound bow, one of the first compounds and oh my god did I and everyone I knew tinkered with that thing. Gentlemen that I knew who were engineers could not get enou...

Re: Frustrating tools
Yup, same picture, I sanded some today very lightly, and the I hit with some rogue on a Dremel polishing wheel. It helped some but still popped the thread once. My local hardware did not have small enough shrink tube so I’ll still have look around a bit for that, or I thought about liquid electrical...

Re: Frustrating tools
Thanks Ron, I’m going to check out those hackle pliers. I emailed smhean and received a quick response, they suggested maybe some shrink tube which I may try, but I want to give sand paper a try first. I also thought about the brush on liquid electrical tape, what ever I’ll get it.

Frustrating tools
I have vent a bit, today trying to tie some triple threat caddis I thought I would use some of the tying tools I have to make a nicer looking body and legs. Dubbing loops rather than applying the dubbing to the thread was my first frustration, I have the smhaen dubbing twister and to be honest I sho...

Re: Kaleidoscope Soft Hackle
First of all very cool, I think this would be a Great Lake run rainbow soft hackle here in the Great Lakes!

Re: Sanders' March Brown Soft Hackle (tyed by DOUGSDEN)
Ray, thanks for sharing this photo with us, oldhats patterns are beautifully designed and Doug has done a masterful job with his rendition. I hope they both chime in on this pattern, of special interest to me is the dubbing mixture or dubbing used and hook choice, hooks and dubbing, my two favorite ...

Re: Dressed For Success (another glympse inside Doug's Fly Box)
Doug, do you mix your own Tups, or buy premixed? I love the fly in the above photo that has the Tups abdomen.
Thanks, Mike.
Thanks, Mike.
