Re: Red Fox Squirrel Flymph
@DOUGSDEN Wow.....I'm speechless at your kind words. I lurked around this forum for a long time trying to learn the ropes before I had the guts to join and post any of my work. Getting praised by a staple of the community like yourself means a lot to me. I would be in for a fly swat too! Dave had a ...

Re: Copper Spider
I love this fly! More importantly the fish love it. I often church it up a little with a hares ear or muskrat thorax. I prefer muskrat. I also like to these "brassie" versions of the classics with colored wire. So for example partridge with yellow or orange wire, snipe with purple wire, wa...

Heritage series Mustad iron
Playing around with the new heritage series Mustad "apex gap" and breathing new life in to some of my favorite classics.
The waterhen bloa and the partridge and orange. Both tied with Pearsal's silk and per the original dressing given by Pritt.

Red Fox Squirrel Flymph
The RFSN has been one of my favorite flies since long before Mr. Whitlock passed. It's one of those flies that 10 different people can tie the exact same thing and come up with 10 different looking flies and with everyone posting them lately that's become even more apparent. I sat down to tie a few ...

Re: A Review of My Box
The iso is a cool fly but for me your march brown nymph is just perfection. Your photo of it looks like the middle photo of a Dave Hughes montage where he draws the natural on one side and the fly on the other, then both of them blended together in the middle. Stellar work.

This is my first time seeing the heritage mustads but I did see they did my favorite old hook for spiders the 3906 in the heritage. Now I'm going to have to start hoarding those! Wicked is right! Great fly

Re: The Dark Watch
Mike have you tested to see if you are the curse and not the purple by fishing a purple fly tied by someone else? I'd be happy to send you some. Purple has always been my secret juju.

Re: Purple Haze
For some reason all I can see is how clean and perfect that first wrap of tinsel is and how nice it makes the tail look. I often don't think about what side I tie it in on in relation to what way I'm going to rib it and end up with a wonky first wrap.

Re: Cane and silk glass rods
Yeah I haven't read anything about his bamboo rods and I honestly don't know much about them but if I was going to spring for one I would save till I could afford a reputable model. I have read several stellar reviews about the glass tho. We'll see I suppose.
