Re: Biot Soft Hackles

With biots, peacock herl, ostrich...anything like that I put a drop of gel super glue over my thread base and wrap it trough the glue. Builds a stronger fly plus if you fumble and drop it, it won't come unwound on you

Re: Frenchy Time

DUBBN those frenchies are BANGERS! I'm not a euro guy and typically tie nymphs with a little more "soul" but I LOVE the frenchie. I tie a variant that's for isonychia and it's phesant I've dyed over black (actually a charcoal gray) with a black rib and a collar made from a claret/olive spe...

Re: Orange partridge

Ray the silk came from a French costume designer. Apparently she comes from a long line of dress makers and her great grandmother left her a building full of vintage silks, tinsel, and some weird hybrids that are silk threads with wire twisted in as one of the strands. The threads and flosses are IN...

Orange partridge

Just a simple orange partridge I tried to make a little interesting with some 200 year old French silk.

Hook- mustad 3366 (my favorite spider hook) size 12
Abdomen- vintage orange silk thread ribbed with vintage orange silk floss
Hackle- brown partridge

Re: Imitation Wood Duck (dyed mallard)

For 2 whole days after waterfowl season last year I sorted mallard, woodie, teal, pigtail, and gadwall flank. Ended up with an entire shoebox full of fluff off the bottom of the feathers if that tells you how much sorting I did
