Doug,
Very nice patterns! Great photography and explanation of the process. The cottontail is an underrated source of great dubbing, feet, (as we've discussed before) and also very tasty in the pot!
Nice job!

That is a very nice looking pattern, Carl. I'll bet it fishes well in a variety of applications.

Re: Clipped Grouse Caddis
Hi Bill, Goose body feathers are split and "burned" by bleach, then stabilized in baking soda and water for Spey-type hackles as you suggested. Similar to burning the flue from peacock herl with bleach, your mileage may vary. I have purchased bleached and dyed goose feathers for steelhead ...

Re: Flymph Challenge - Rabbits Foot Dubbing
I did notice a couple of comments about harvesting regular (cottontail) rabbit's feet and wonder if this material has the same translucence and hydrophobic properties as the snowshoe hare stuff. Anybody know for sure? Bill, I don't know for sure, but Art Lee wrote about it in an article in Fly Fishe...

Re: Flymph Challenge - Rabbits Foot Dubbing
Bill, And if they don't take it when the Hendricksons are on the water, it might be a good match for Isonychia. Dying rabbit's feet seems to be pure witchcraft. I've only had a few dyed feet that were really what I wanted/was looking for. That's why I use cottontail feet for my Hendrickson and BWO e...

Hans,
Did you dye the entire JC neck, or just a sampling of eyes? Very interesting look, and they would look good on steelhead patterns.
Nice work, as always, sir!
