Nice tie! I have not tied on Knapek hooks before but that hook looks interesting.

Re: Lady Carolind first try
Wow! That is one of my favorite classic patterns and it works great for steelhead and trout. I really like this version, it is super buggy. Thanks for posting.

Re: Generic March Brown
Thanks Lou and Novabass. Ron, I am not sure about the hook availability in the US. When I was in Japan, I did learn that many different brands of hooks are made by one or two companies. I really liked this hook because it was an up eyed hook (return eye), made from a stout wire, and available in a s...

Generic March Brown
Hi all, I finally was able to log in for two days in a row after multiple attempts over the last few months. This is a tie that worked well for me on a recent trip. It is a generic tie but I really like the hook, which I found when I was in Japan. I am not sure the brand but believe it is a Tiemco a...

Purple gnat
Hi all, This fall, I did a lot of fishing on some new water, which was nice. The purple gnat was a top producer for me and I used my 2 wt and 4 wt David Reid bamboo trout spey rods. It was something new and a nice change to swing flies on a two handed rod. Hook: Tiemco 102Y size 17 Body: Purple Turk...

Re: Partridge, brown, and tinsel
I really like that name chocolatey goodness. Perhaps they're a few sweet tooth trout out there. I don't have a lot of materials but it is fun creating flies with what you have.

Re: Partridge, brown, and tinsel
Hi Ray,
I have 2 weeks left and it is not looking promising to fish but I have visited many fly shops and have learned a few interesting tying techniques. It would be nice to consider having some Zoom meetings again.
Take care,
Otto

Partridge, brown, and tinsel
Hi all, I tied this fly yesterday in hopes of getting to fish but the rain is relentless. Of course, it rains every time I plan on exploring and fishing. I only have three weeks left before I head back and hope to at least get one day of fishing in. Interestingly, I saw Steve's post on his simple an...
