Love these bugs. Very nicely done, Wayne. Your talent behind the vise just amazes me.

Re: "Drinking Straw Wrangler" (DIY tying tool)

I've been using a shorter section of drinking straw for the same purpose for years. Don't remember who showed that to me. When I taught a wet fly class to the intermediate tying group last year I told them I was going to give everyone a hackle guard to keep for their very own. They were a bit disapp...

Re: Polish Palmer & Partridge

Awesome fly Ron. Did you use hen or rooster for the palmer? You always do great work. Thanks, guys. When a fly looks that good, tying it is pretty easy. Wayne, I used hen dyed brown. I really didn't want the stiffness of rooster, I just wanted something that would keep the partridge from collapsing...

Re: Polish Palmer & Partridge

This is my attempt at the Polish Palmer and Partridge. I was asked to do a tying demo at the start of our fly fishing club meeting (Penobscot Fly Fishers) last Wednesday. It's an hour long tying session for anyone who shows up. I was so enamored with this fly that I tied three or four on Tuesday to ...

That's gorgeous, Norm. I really need to practice tying slip wings, but the art seems to escape me. I am envious of your talent gained by many hours of practice.

Re: Fitzmaurice

I'm blown away by your chenille work. The transition between the black and red is so uniform. I can never seem to get the transition to join smoothly like that. Do you have any pointers for achieving such nice results? Beautifully vibrant fly. I was about to say the same thing. Damn, Norm! That is ...

Re: Polish Palmer & Partridge

I can see this fly in many sizes and colors to match conditions on the water. I've done several using the original recipe and they look killer.

Re: Polish Palmer & Partridge

That just looks super buggy and messy, which means it will catch lots of fish. Thanks for sharing that one for sure.

I've been trying to sign in all day so I could say, Happy Holidays to you and yours. That truly is a lovely wee fly.
