Me too. This would be a killer stillwater pattern! You should add red thread for a head. Thanks for sharing liam.Soft-hackle wrote:WOW! I'd love to see this one in the water.

Re: Royal Softy
I got one of those from a fly swap once apon a time, but with grizzly hackle. I like yours better, the body is really sleek, which I love.
Very nice! I am going to have to tie some of these up. I love using red on flies and this is a classic.

Welcome! I gotta ask. The eye of your hook looks rather odd to me, please expand on it.
Beautiful fly!

I like the first one, it just looks better to me ascetically (more balanced). But, I will say it matters not to the fish. Once it gets wet, it all looks and lies the same.
You could tie it forward and it would still lie back in the water on a swing. Just depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Re: Brahma hen cape vs Brahma hen soft hackle
In general you won't be able to tie much smaller than size 16 with the saddles, there are some feathers on the hen capes that can go smaller, but like was mentioned, you won't have too many of them. I use a technique that does allow you to tie smaller flies with those larger saddle feathers. I made ...
