Re: Rainbow Beaver Flymph
Here is a link to an Ebay seller that I have ordered from. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ssn=crystalcreekfibers&store_name=crystalcreekfibers&_oac=1&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197 Firestar and Angelina fibers are what are marketed in the fly tying trade as Ice, Arizona, Krystal, SLF,...

Re: Rainbow Beaver Flymph
Very nice to see the great Northwoods contingent of the FLymph Forum is alive and well! We are alive and well. Fly boxes are full (at least mine), but the rivers are near flood stage due to snow melt and three days of torrential rain and the lakes still have a sheet of ice on them. Open water fishi...

Here is the Rainbow Trilobal Nylon I blended with the beaver in about equal proportions. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53615316978_fde048c1b3.jpg RIMG3720 by William Lovelace , on Flickr You can see the glint of the nylon all over the body... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53614241477_bb...

Re: Rainbow Beaver Flymph
Ron, Just Google Firestar Trilobal Nylon fibers, many fiber arts shops have it. 8-) I bought from 2 different ones. ;) This has come a long way from starting with LaFontaine and Dazzleaire from a craft shop decades ago. :D Bill I still have a bunch of Aunt Lydia's Sparkle Yarn from those days.

Re: Itching to tie Flymphs again
I hear ya. I'm about to start up on a few flymphs myself. Just took pictures of all the flies for the Spring Fly Swap. The cable for my camera has gone missing. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Nice to see you back at it.

Re: Frustrating tools
I must be a lucky one. My Smhaen dubbing twister has worked perfectly since day one. It's a favorite on the bench, especially for spinning peacock herl and hackle in a loop. Like Ray, I do keep a sheet of 1500 wet or dry paper near the desk, but it gets used on safeties and sears on firearms more th...

Re: SOFT~ HACKLE JOURNAL
I got my fourth and final copy of the SHJ yesterday and was saddened to read the news that it would be the last issue. I have read it cover to cover, as I have every issue, now to go back and read it again. I enjoyed the article that referenced Rocky Ford Creek in Eastern Washington. We used to fish...

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
I agree with you that I can use the OPST heads and still play, but I'm thinking the Scandi lines might be better for the smaller flies and surface fishing that I prefer.... ron, When I'm fishing with any of my rods, either a single hander or a double, my big flies are usually sizes 10 to 16 on a fl...
