Re: My attempt at Stewarts Black Spider
A excellent fly. Davie McPhail has a YouTube video where he shows how to tie this fly. He twists the feather and tying thread together to make a much stronger fly. Barry YouTube Video - Davy McPhail tying Stewart's Spider https://youtu.be/uV7k3epJfJY It's Davie's method that I followed. I have lear...

Left & right wings
When you buy a pack or pair of wings, for example speckled hen wings for tying a Hardy's Favorite, how do you know if you're getting a left & right wing? Or do they pair them up when packaging the feathers?

Re: My attempt at Stewarts Black Spider
Thanks friends for your comments! You all sure know how to humble a person. I don't tie many flies, about fifteen I'd say, and that's including dries and nymphs. But now being a member here, I have seen some flies tied by some of you that I am really intrigued on learning how to tie, so maybe I'll g...

Re: PEARSALL'S IS BACK!!!
I thought I read somewhere about a year ago that Semperfli was copying Pearsall's colors. At that time, they had only a selct few colors in production, but now they have quite a few colors. They call it Nano Silk. https://semperfli.us/fly-tying-materials/nanosilkhome/ They also have a substitute yar...

Re: Wet fly rookie question
cropped-Fishing-Print-1.jpg I want that print above my tying desk. Thanks friends! I had a feeling I wasn't too far off the meaning of "Dressing flies". Also, you could join the Fly Dresser's Guild. http://www.flydressersguild.org I will definitely give it a look over. Thank you sir.

Wet fly rookie question
I'm a little confused. I have read books from the great older generation writers, W.C Stewart, T.E. Pritt, F.M. Hallford and a few others. And the term, and I see it here on the forum as well, dressing wet flies. I have never really heard that term with tying dry flies, only with wets. Would someone...

Re: New member intro
Jim Anderson lives in Longmont and is a member of this forum. He'll probably be at the tying gig. Charlie Welcome to forum, Fishnkiltz. I do indeed live in Longmont and Dick Shinton is a friend of mine. Sadly, I will be unable to make the Expo this year. Hope to meet you sometime soon. Jim Hello Ji...

Re: New member intro
Fishnkilts, if it was Dick Shinton you talked to, at Laughing Grizzly, he knows his stuff. The other guys at the shop are sell proclaimed wonder guides. The type that will remind you every 45 seconds that they guide. They are dimwitted too. I like the Laughing Grizzly but their selection of soft ha...
