Re: Orvis Flymphs

Thanks for posting the brochure, Lance! It's good that everyone can now see how everything came together....almost 50 years ago....

Cheers,

Re: Mustad Catalog of Flies

Carl, if you could find a link to the article, it would be appreciated. Looking closely at the four Silver Bait Fluers, three of them have different hook designs--one is TUE, two have a longer second hook. I originally thought these were a standard pattern, but now I am wondering if they were home-m...

Re: Mustad Catalog of Flies

Cool, I particularly like the Silver Bait Fluers. Agreed: https://i.postimg.cc/DyR1jqQ0/Screen-Shot-2020-11-06-at-8-23-43-AM.png But the hook perplexed me when I first saw it--as it looks like a pike hook Partridge used to make. But is clearly smaller. Then--strangely enough--yesterday in an old Wh...

Re: Flymphs and Spiders (Tyed by Bill "Tie2Fish" Shuck)

Beautiful set of flies, Ray--Bill was the real thing--generous in so many ways, welcoming, and a very nuanced tier. I love his Conover flymph--perfect for Isos on the Ausable.

Thanks for posting this, let's maybe see more boxed collections here? Dana? Carl?

Re: Orvis Flymphs

Ken, I believe the booklet is still in copyright, so I don't think it can be posted; it can be shared individually under fair use doctrine. I'll let John take the lead in that, as he made the scans.

Re: Orvis Flymphs

I really would like a nice photo/s of the Flymph Collection (profile of flies) and the page from the Catalog for my website if either of you would be willing to send me a couple and grant permission to use them on the website. The flies all together as they are or individually would be great! Would...

Is there a little booklet under the card the flies are mounted on? If not, let me know and I'll scan the one I have so you can complete your set.
Alas, no, so if you could scan yours, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Many thanks,

Re: Can it get any worse?

My issue was with Orvis calling that soft hackle pattern they are selling as a "flymph". Orvis obviously knows better, see this thread... https://flymphforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4123 . Orvis KNEW better--in the 1970s. But today? LOL--the place is run by MBAs who can't tie a fly t...

Re: Orvis Flymphs

Lance, (& John)-- I recently found a set of these, after looking for some time now: https://i.postimg.cc/1zb1SwBN/Orvis-Flymphs.jpg Do you know who tied these? On the Bamboo boards the folks have helped narrow down production date: the flymph selection only appeared in the 1973 and 1974 catalogu...
