Great looking flies, Wayne. The ribbing on the body makes the whole fly just pop out for me. Rookie question time. What do you mean by, Needle? I believe the needle style implies that the hackle is tied behind the thorax/head. As a follow up, I'm guessing that this will allow the hackle to envelop ...

As a tangent to this topic, I noticed many of you use a sinking line or leader when fishing flymphs and soft hackles. I've never used a sinking leader. I'm relatively new to fishing subsurface. I have been completely enamored with biot and marabou when tying wets. You're right, absolutely necessary to put a dab of superglue under the biot. Lord knows, you're going to need it.
