Re: Partridge and Yellow
Do you have a link for the show in Brookville, or dates/times? I just looked and it's only about 3 1/2 hours from me. Easy roadtrip! http://www.flymasters.com/Events/2014BAR.asp Here's the link to information about the Brookville Anglers Rendezvous. It would be great if you can attend! This will be...

Re: Partridge and Yellow
Just curious, how quickly do do tye these? Do you prepare your materials ahead of time? Any tips you can offer? If I have all the materials and tools in front of me (which is rarely the case!) I can tie one of these simple spider patterns, like this Partridge and Yellow, in about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes ...

Any chance of tying and posting a photo using the same materials with flattened thread then ribbed with twisted thread?
How's that?

This is a beautiful pattern. The heron barbs look great. I will have to start picking up any Canada goose feathers I see! Thanks for sharing it Hans!

Otto,
#28? Are you kidding me? My eyes hurt just thinking about it! That is a fine looking fly. Is that a mole fur thorax? There is no fish that wouldn't take that as the real McCoy! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Yep, I'd like to try a different wax than the one I have. What do you use?redietz wrote:Have you tried using heavily waxed primrose silk instead of olive? You end with about the same color, but the waxiness adds something to the fly, I think.

Steve,
I like the material combination you have here, especially the yellow tips of the plover and the yellow floss peeking through the tinsel. Looks like a winner! How do you typically fish this fly?
