Dirty Olive

Hook - Mustad 3906 or equivalent, size 8-14

Thread - Brown
Tail - Pheasant tail fibers
Ribbing - Dyed orange round monofilament
Body - Brown olive fur dubbing
Wing case - Gray goose quill
Thorax - Brown olive fur dubbing
Legs - Dyed brown guinea hen fibers tied in at throat

Popular Fly Patterns - Terry Hellekson

Tying notes: I used an ancient technique of hand blending olive and brown fur for the dubbing. 😀

As for the dyed brown guinea hen feather fibers, if you don't have any brown hackle fibers will be okay. My goose quill was really dark but useable. I also use small orange swannundaze for the ribbing.
Flytiers sure have a way at making things difficult

Wow Norm! Has this pattern got all the goodies! I am drawn to the overall shape of the nymph! With all the different materials it looks like a beautifully constructed quilt pattern! I say this Norm because some of the most beautiful quilts my mom ever created where of this mixed color scheme which I find very attractive! I can only imagine what the trouts are gonna think! This will be an awesome producer!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
