Wyatt's Trude

Salmon/Stone Fly

Cliff Wyatt of Santa Monica, California, tied this pattern to simulate the stonefly hatches found on many western rivers.

Hook - Mustad 9671, sizes 4-8
Weight (Optional) - Lead free wire
Thread - Black
Tail - Speckled guinea fowl barbs
Ribbing - Oval gold tinsel
Body - Orange chenille
Wing - Fox squirrel tail tied over the body
Hackle - Speckled guinea fowl tied on as a collar and tied back in front of the wing

That's a great fly, Norm. One I knew nothing about, which is why I enjoy your posts so much. I'm always finding fishy looking flies that I've never heard of. Very nicely dressed fly, Norm, and one I'll try to copy, though, not nearly so well done.

I believe I need to stretch that sucker out and drag it around after ice-out. Very nice, Norm.
