My Fave Winged Wets

I thing of my winged wets as mini-streamers. I fish two #12 wets--a Hares Ear and a Leadwinged Coachman. Try 'em sometime, when nothing seems to be happening. You'd be surprised. My favorite tactic with this setup is to find a super slow flowing pool that's around 3 to 4 ft deep. I'll cast the rig out to where there may be some structure, and let the flies fall to the bottom, leaving them there for around five minutes. Then, using a hand-twist retrieve, I'll work them across the bottom of the pool. Sometimes, you'll feel a pull. Set the hook, and you may well have a very nice fish at the end of your line.
