New Trier

New Trier (Original recipe)

Hook – Mustad 3665A or equivalent
Thread – Black
Tag – Fine copper wire & yellow floss
Tail – Golden pheasant crest
Butt – Peacock herl
Body – First half silver coated copper wire; butted with peacock herl
Second half copper wire.
Throat – Dun hackle fibers
Wing – Mottled gray brown turkey

New Trier (Variation recipe)

Hook – Mustad 3665A or equivalent
Thread – Black
Tag – Fine copper wire & yellow floss
Tail – Golden pheasant crest
Butt – Peacock herl
Body – First half silver oval tinsel; butted with peacock herl
Second half - Copper oval tinsel.
Throat – Dun hackle fibers
Wing – Mottled brown turkey

Tying note: I tied this fly per the photo in the book “Forgotten Flies”. Not all photos in the book match the tying recipe.
Flytiers sure have a way at making things difficult
