Evil Betty

Post by Fishnkilts » Fri Feb 16, 2024 10:10 pm

I have shown this fly to a few people and they really seem to like it. It started out as a Trude style fly tied by a man who lives in Montana. Unfortunately he won't be with us long because he was exposed to Agent Orange during Vietnam.
This is the original Evil Betty.

I was first introduced to Evil Betty by my neighbor who goes to Montana once a year and he was given these flies by this man. From what I hear, Evil Betty is a great fly. So I thought I'd tie a wet fly version in honor of this Vietnam Veteran, and the onlookers at the tying expo really liked it.

I showed it to Mike62 here on the forum and he said I needed to post this fly for you all to see.

I'm with Ray. Both look great and deserve a swim.

I don't know which fly came first the Evil Betty or the Evil Betsy but thanks for the inspiration!

...which begs the question; can you fish the Bad Lizzy while listening to Thin Lizzy?

I like this Evil Betty setup.

I am going to copy it, and try it in the next few months.

Winged and wingless.

Well done!!

WOW!!! I love the look of it. I will have to show this photo to my neighbor who introduced me to Evil Betty.
Then I'm going to tie a few dozen of this soft hackled version.

Great job and two thumbs up.
