You do have October caddis in the Midwest. My observations are that the brighter patterns seem to be more widely used/accepted out west. I always did well with patterns that leaned a bit toward the attractor range in color.

I tied several of these a few weeks ago but have yet to fish them...Then again, I haven't had much chance this season to fish much of anything.

In the North Central part of Pennsylvania on Pine Creek, for some reason this fly always produces.
I was never a fan of the flies color composition but, it works... can't argue with success!
Joaniebo - Those are excellent variations. I'm digging your abdomen dubbing color.
