Re: Silk Threads
Joe-- I'm afraid I've not used the YLI solid colored silk; I was thinking mainly how the variegated variety seemed to be woven a little "looser" than Pearsall's. I doubt it matters much when you're using you're using it as a sub for buttonwhole twist, but pretty tacky wax might be in order if you're using seal dubbing.

Re: Silk Threads
Here are some of the other types of YLI silks. Like I said, they're not traditional, but they are fun. I put hackle on the first two I tied and then realized I was not showing a fly, just the thread.
Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. They don't show all the different shades that each individual silk really has. The Sparkle Silk has a metallic thread twisted with the silk and the Black/Silver thread has an Adams coloration.

Re: Silk Threads
Very nice--I'm afraid my wife's "door prize" sample from the quilt show didn't have these colors...the "Sparkle Silk Tan/Gold" looks outstanding, especially.

Re: Silk Threads

Re: Silk Threads
That sparkle tan/gold is one good lookin' fly. What is the hackle?
