October Caddis Flymphs

A few OC Flymphs for a friend in OR.

Hook: Daiichi #1740 size 12
Thread: Persall's Orange
Dubbing: A mix of ginger Snowshoe Rabbit with natural, orange, hot orange and red Seal's fur. Spun body on Clark's Dubbing Block with YLI Natural Silk thread and Bailey's Wax.
Rib: Small gold wire.
Hackle: Ginger hen neck.

Looks a bit like theRev. Powell;s "Orange Otters", eh? (MANY turns of hen hackles, pretty mjch making it a dry fly, per the Rev. Powell's dressings!)

Interesting. The construction of the "Otter" flies reminds me of the construction of Gunnar Johnson's "Emma" pattern (i.e. - the hackle is wound in the middle of the hook shank). I tied a bunch of these for one of our swap, but gave them all away. I will need a few of each in my box, come spring. Hopefully there will be some quiet time after the holidays for some serious tying....
