When I saw this pattern on YouTube I just had to tie up a few for my box this year. Hoping to hit the river next week, if it has come down.

Went out on the North Branch of the Au Sable in Michigan last Saturday. Really shouldn't have, it was 10"-12" high. Thankfully I didn't float my hat!

Greg,

That is a beautiful pattern, and I hope you get to fish with it soon. Definitely looks effective. Very well done. ;)

Nice looking fly. Great job. With what seems like so many hook brands available now days how do you like the ones like you used on your Pheasant Tail?

I am very happy with the hooks from Wholesale Fly Company. I have been using them for about 3 years now. Hard to beat the price, 100 for $7. Orders over $25 is free shipping. Every once in a while I get a bad hook, but very few, maybe 1 in 100, but not always.

Greg, I have to agree about the Wholesale Fly Company's hooks. Quality hooks at a bargain price. I use their beads as well.

Thanks. Hooks, like everything else, are expensive. Especially if you tie alot of flies.

Just read a story of a guy who has fished nothing but this exact fly for years. Size 14-10 I believe. He fishes it all over the world for everything from trout, to smallmouth bass, to steelies, to barracuda. Even in the salt he still just uses this fly and I believe he said only up to a size 10.

Add a third to WFC hooks and beads. I think seeing DUBBN's flies tied on them got me to order some. After that the quality and price kept me as a customer.
