I was curious how you guys approached tying a "traditional" Dark Watchet. I've cheated before and just used a purple rib that's been touch-dubbed over an orange thread-base, but I've got to admit the traditional wind looks more elegant.

Is this a case where you need to go whole-hog and tie with both strands of thread off the bobbin, or do you tie-in, say, the purple, as you might a strand of floss then spin it with the "dusted" orange you've got in your bobbin holder?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Outstanding video--I can't believe I haven't run across it before. Lots to learn from Mr. Herd just about the simple economy of wraps needed/required to get things on the hook...thanks for the link!

Fascinating site, thanks for sharing it here. I watched every one of the videos, really interesting stuff.

Is anyone else having trouble with the video on Straw Mayflies? Every time I try to watch it; it stops after a couple of minutes. I was able to watch all of the others without any problem.
