A question for Hans Weilenmann

I googled your name because I'm a fan of your flies and I found your "Flytiers Page". I watched the first two videos you have up where you tie a soft hackle for the purpose of showing how to tie a specific rib but I fell in love with the Coq de Leon hackle you have. Can you tell me exactly what Whiting neck or cape or saddle you use there? Is it a rooster or hen? is it Hebert Miner or regular Whiting? thanks.

Hi,
Whiting Coq de Leon hen neck. You can find a sample image here:

I use both the very subtle flecked neck hackles, as also the much more pronounced shoulder feathers in a range of pattern styles. I think the Whiting CdL hen neck is among the most versatile materials available, and a 'steal' at the cost.
Cheers,
Hans W
