Re: New bobbin
I like the Wacatch ceramic bobbin, specifically designed for Pearsalls small silk spools. Really nice...

Wayne,
From the Wasatch site:
http://flytyingtools.com/tools/bobbins/mini-bobbin.html
Not a lot of info posted, and nothing specifically on the size of this bobbin. This looks like the small bobbin that fits the Pearsall's spools.
I have one, and have used it for several years. I like it.
Matarelli midge bobbins are nice too, if you can find one.
Best,
Tim

Give Jim Slattery a call (406-646–7258). He may have some, or know where to get you one.

Wasatch has a larger ceramic tube version which could work, after bending the arms inwards a bit.

Re: New bobbin
Wayne, most of the bobbins I use have long metal arms with brass balls (yes, I saw that) on the end. I picked a couple and bent the arms for plenty of tension on the spools. I've never had a purpose made bobbin for Pearsall's.
I do have a buddy that made a really nice plastic spacer to use with standard bobbins. They should be on the market next year. If I hear that they are released I'll post it here.
Wayne, I'm surprised you haven't crafted some beautiful spacers on your lathe. If you get your elbow back in shape and get back in the shop, I'd bet you'd find a quick market for such a thing right here.

Hi William;
If I could I would. Latest health issues have me pretty close to an invalid strength wise. My right arm is in a locked brace I'm only supposed to unlock three times a day to perform range of motion stretching. My left has what's called a "Picc" line, it's a catheter in major vein in my arm to just before my heart. Can't lift much with it either or risk damaging the line or the blood vessel. Twice a day I hook an iv antibiotic balloon to it that takes 2 hours to drain.

wayneb, Howdy;
Sounds like they have you strung up like a scare crow ... only mobile ... to an extent ... kind of ...
you Sir have my deepest sympathies. Perhaps once they remove the tube and brace you can then
play with your balls as much as you wish ... , .

Glad to be able to provide a chuckle. They are an important part of recovery as well.
