I cannot get this man's flies out of my head. On the left the Grey Hackle and on the right the Red Hackle. Both tied on size 14 Allcocks W205 sproat hooks. I believe that these 2 patterns were general patterns and were his own personal creations.

They belong in your head, that's why. I have a photo of his red hackle, tied by him, on my wall. I printed it out. Yours is darn close, his has just a slightly more elongated an tapered head. Your peacock seems to have the right colour and sheen. I wonder why it was called a grey hackle. It is more pale yellowish than grey. Badger is.

Effective and purposeful. Two great patterns. You would do well to keep them stuck. :)

The grey hackle I always assumed was badger or golden badger. He lists them as yellow or white creamy furnace.
