“Waterhen Bloa” Partridge SUD2. Sz 14

I know this fly is like peanut butter & jelly to most of you and although I’ve been tying for a while I am
new to soft hackles and spiders and I’d appreciate some feedback. Pos/neg. Thanks

Honestly I do not see any negatives with this fly. Nicely balanced profile. Just enough mole dubbing. Enough to add color without loosing sight of the thread wraps themselves. Nicely hackled. Tidy head.

Aces! ;)

Terrible version :shock: - send to Theroe for proper disposal :lol:

All kidding aside your version is very nice !!! This is one of my favorite patterns to fish year round.
Keep up the good work.

Agree with the other comments.

Body: nice balance; when wet, the color will be a mix of dubbing and thread.

Hackle: appears balanced around the fly and sparse.

Fish it with confidence!

I had to tie some to fish next year...

For tying I prefer the genetic stem and uniformity of the barbs on the Whiting Hen. I will test the fish to see if they are more nostalgic or Progressive! ;) :lol:

Hmmm. I’m surprised how well the hen compares. Gotta remember that.

Thanks Bill.

Ray, Howdy;

Anything like me and you'll need to write it down in a book that won't move far
from your tying desk.
