Hook. …… Gaelic supreme Sz 14
Thread. … Pearsall’s gold
Body. ….. White translucent horse hair wrappped over gold silk
Thorax ….. Peacock herl
Hackle …. Red Grouse covert feather

***Let me know what you think. The grouse is one sided stripped
and a bit long because I was in a spidery kind of mood !

Lovely wee spider. I’d fish that in a heartbeat.

Very nice 👌 Spidery is good - I like slightly longer hackles. I think they add to overall action of the fly.

I like how the peacock herl looks. Wish mine came out so precise. Brilliantly done.

Looks great. Where do you get the horse hair?

Probably from their tales or manes.

Thank you. We have an Andalusian in the backyard. I can send you a bit if you’d like.

If you don't happen to have an Andalusian in the backyard, music stores usually have really nice, white hair from a stallion to restring bows for violins, cellos and such. I mention stallion only because mares get urine on their tails and it weakens the hair. Not a problem with fly bodies, but if you decide to spin up a horse hair line or leader, it could lead to a lost fish.
