Thanks everyone. I'm definitely in some trouble now in the hook dept. I sit down to tie a batch of one thing and see a hook that just needs some attention. These are quite unusual and begging for some emerger design, but I'm not discounting them as a SH hook yet. I'll definitely get these wet and try to keep em out of the trees.

CB, I like the idea of the CBHS Emerger (CB-Hackle Stacker) pattern. I was tying hackle stackers a few years ago and met Johnny King at Somerset about the same time. The subject did come up but he was obsessing over squid patterns at the time. Really creative stuff for salt water. Your snowshoe idea sounds like something I would cook up, wish I had thought of it. I'll give it a go.
