I dont often comment on fly's unless they display a specific techique or if they are for a very specific purpose.
Some of your recent ties William simply deserve applause for the quality of the tying and the photography. they do inspire the veewer to go to their own vice and attempt to reach those high standards, well done.
As a matter of interest does the quail exhibit the brown tones of waterhen.

Norman, you're awfully kind. You're right in that I have a fairly narrow reach in terms of techniques. I don't think I could tie a hackle in by the tip and make it fishable.
Once I find something that works, I keep tying it until the whole board has William Fatique. I do have a thing for materials, though (mostly natural, of course).
In regards to tones on the California Quail, I was going to post this later, but you can see a bit of the tannish tones near the tips.

Two Pukeko? Seriously? You guys cover quite a range. I have a urine stained, poult albino snipe skin on the way...does that count?

Really like the quail! Very clean tie too. The 1530 fly really appeals to me.
