Hans, you rebel! ;) . The dun hackle gives a nice "step" between the body and front hackle- I like it.

Niceeeeee!! I gotta get that made into a poster for the tying room.... :lol: I see what the difference would be in the water too...with the shorter hackle rearward of the longer, the fly will have the colors mix more with the shorter just peeping thru...with the shorter hackle forward of the longer you will have the "layered" or stepped look as MM said...Thanks Hans, I learn something new all the time thanks to folks like you!
