I won't venture a guess on fly design regarding the effectiveness of the CJ. I can see the very vague resemblance to some aquatic insect, but I really always thought the fly was especially effective (it has been for me) because it got down and stayed down better than any other fly and had plenty of bling, imitation specifics aside. Like I said earlier, the original doesn't get wet often for me, even though I know it works like a charm and I always carry some. I think they are the link to why I fish the wire bodies so often.
