Maggie (CAUTION - Bead mentioned)

Post by chase creek » Sun Jul 29, 2012 5:44 pm

Field tested these on some Bluegills today. One acre pond, 80 Deg air temp, clear skies, mid-afternoon. (you go when you can go) The 'Gills ate 'em up! Accounted for some really nice fish. Gonna try some out with a little weight soon. (Black bead?)

Hook - WR-069 Size 12
Thread - Body: White, Head: Black
Abdomen - White Uni-Yarn
Thorax - Black Ostrich Herl
Hackle - Speckled Brown Hen

Ha, no doubt: that's a great looking fly. :) (BTW, it is possible to "match the hatch" with hornet/wasp larvae--though I'd recommend knowing how to double-haul first. )

I sat and thought about the name for a minute before I figured out what you meant. :D

Very cool! Gorgeous fly and image. Love the high contrast of the white & black body. Love the crisp focus and narrow depth of field.

Funny, I was expecting the color combination when I saw the title. The skill in tying and the photography is superb.

Cool pattern and a nice use of the floss. It's nice looking on the gold hook. I can see this being a killer in a lot of different water. Post the bead when you tie it up.

C.C. ~ Wiser heads than I have claimed that fly tying is a craft rather than an art, but your postings disprove this premise for me. Like what's gone before, this one is deserving of a frame.
