Jeff, I'm really digging the overall proportions of this. Especially the taper of the body on such a long iron. Is the thread fairly thick, like a gossamer silk? Nice delicate bit of dubbing as well. Nice pattern and another killer pic. Keep these things coming.

Thanks fellas. Didn't think it that special..... just goes to show ya :D

William, Dewhurst's Sylko (Australian manufacture sewing thread) is a heavier cotton thread. The label on the reel says 40 so I am guessing #40 denier? So it is heavy enough for tying but not far away from the Kinkame silks I picked up in San Francisco which are #50, probably equates out somewhere between #6 and #3 Uni-thread...... well it does in my mind! :D
The colour is D258 Golden Cinnamon. They state "Mercerised Cotton" and "Fast Dye" on the label, so I am guessing it is colour fast and just didn't get a quick dip!

I like it, even if it is a bit bulky and it is not fuzzy like a lot of sewing threads. For vintage stuff it is pretty strong as well. It was a popular thread in the 1950-60's with many a seamstress or home sewer.
The dubbing is possum belly which is very soft and golden/cream in colour- almost an amber of sorts.

A beautiful blend of colors and a "just right" hackle set.

Jeff,
Nice riff on a classic idea. Great colors, and perfect hackle. I especially like the jaunty tail. Attaching the whisks so the curl goes exactly in the right direction is always a challenge for me.
