Tie, this is an exciting fly! It just comes to life while in stasis. Wonderful.

Hey Bill,
I guess I missed this post when I was jamming to get ready for Danbury. Wow. Love this fly.
Metallic thread? What is that? Not wire? I'm feeling stupid, but in awe of the little #16 gray fly.

Lance ~ I think the "Metallic" part of the name refers to the color. The material appears to be a plastic polymer of some sort, and comes in a wide variety of colors. I understand it was developed and marketed as a thread for embroidery machines. It is flat and thin, not unlike a piece of Krystal Flash that has been stretched, and is very strong for its cross-section. The brand name is "Sulky Sliver", which I thought was a typo the first time I saw it. This stuff can be found at craft and fabric stores; it is relatively expensive, but there are several lifetime's worth of it on one of the long spools it comes on, from which I transfer some onto an empty Pearsall's spool.

Thanks Bill. I'm curious to try it out. Weird name.

Lance - If you send me an empty spool, I would gladly share some with you. I have a whole rainbow of colors to choose from, thanks to a half price sale at JoAnne Fabrics. This stuff works great.
