Woodcock is the perfect hackle for framing that delicate yet attention-grabbing body. This is especially nice, Carl.

Carl, you've shown some very nice dressings and this is one of my favorites. The quality of the hackle, especially woodcock and the thorax are especially nice. The buffed wax...now that is something new to me. I've never tied salmon flies, or fancy flies, so I've not had the occassion to try this, other than burnishing silk for rod building. But that's not this...this is cool. Nice work with your pet rock. This is a very cool little spider.

I appreciate the comments from everyone. Thanks.

I used this pattern originally with sharp tail grouse and bobwhite quail hackle which wasn't far off from the woodcock. It has been a great fish catcher. I have also ribbed it with yellow silk.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Exceptional! A lot of love (and skill) went into this fly. It is always a treat to read posts like this. Thanks for sharing Carl.
