Rodger, your trial and error comment rings true, but it seems you have absolutely nailed it down. The amount of dubbing in both the thorax and the abdomen complimented with the silk is just spot on. I've tried this in a dropped loop as well, and with 100's of flies...it would become simple enough, but the block allows for this kind of precision in a few dozen less attempts. =)
