New Kid

Post by Smuggler » Mon Jan 14, 2013 11:03 pm

Haven't posted a pattern in quite some time so here goes!

Springs right around the corner and that means Olives. Was fiddling around with some mottled tails on a pattern and partridge seemed to catch my eye.. as it usually does~
Image
Hook: Alec Jackson NC sz: 11
Silk: Pearsall's light olive, well waxed.
Tail: 2/3 Partridge tail fibbets.
Tag: Silk
Body: Lightly dubbed mix of light brown muskrat olive rabbit, with guard hairs.
Hackle: Whiting hen, brown.

Enjoy. Can't wait to try it. 8-)

Fantastic! I'd have a ton of confidence in this fly.

Excellent photo, too. Thanks for sharing, Eric.

Great to see you recharging your camera for us Eric.
Beautiful fly.
And thanks for reminding us that spring is just around the corner.

Can't wait.

Nice looking Olive. Are you sure you can wait for Spring to try it? :)

Great pattern Eric. I should take a clue from this pattern and start using more mottled tails. Looks great, and definately the style of fly that has been my favorite for years.

Sweet Fly, Eric. That's a beautiful color coordination. Those hooks are sweet too. I've been tying my tups flies with the Alec Jackson line. This is a killer. Bring on Spring.

No Jeff, I'm not sure haha. I should have been out Sunday tossing this guy around but, I didn't. It was pushing 60!(that's warm here in the eastern US in the month of January)
