Help Me....

Post by DOUGSDEN » Sun Feb 03, 2013 4:33 pm

Dearest fellow tyers,
I am having a brain fart! I am looking for a pattern that has really been on my mind lately and I know that I saw it on the forum! Here's the spec.s as best as I can remember them.
It has prob. not been more than 4 months ago (I know, that's alot of patterns ago). I am fairly certain that the picture and receipe was on the "Fly Dressings" thread. I think Dubbn was the tyer but again...?? Here's the general rundown of the pattern. It was a silvery white, moderately spikey dubbed body with a single peacock herl ribbing the body. There was no thorax. The hackle was a very light but well marked Hungarian Partridge. Can anyone help produce a picture or better yet the thread that it belonged to?
I remember typing some text back to the originator about having his permission to duplicate the fly.....wait a minute....was it someone in England? Does this ring a bell with anyone?
I have gone back several pages in "Fly Dressings" and "Tying..." but no good! The pattern was really cool and you all know how something gets stuck in my head, it's stuck! Any help would be really appreciated. I have actually been tying flies in the den recently. This has been between trips to see my new grandbaby Olivia Rae and work.....yuck on the work part!

Unfortunately it does not ring any bells in my belfry. Your comment about "marked Hungarian Partridge" makes me think of some of Carl's (Old hats) patterns. He had some of the loveliest partridge hackle around. They always catch my attention. Make sure you try the search feature at the top of the page. If you go into the advanced section, and then narrow down the choices to a few key words, you may be able to find the pattern your looking for.

Good luck.

Dougsden, Howdy;

Don't know if this is the one you are refering to or not. You'll have to ask DUBBN,
as his pix have dissapeared Here's the link, perhaps it will help your memory zero in;

I don't think it was one of mine. The only one I have posted that might resemble this is the Yak Grub. Which was partridge hackle, ribbing of dun peacock, and yak hair for the body.

I think I remember you making that comment. But can't remember which or who's post.

To Hank and Bill,
Thanks for your efforts fellows but it's not either one! Wayne, is there anyway to bring back your pictures that were not shown in said post? It may have been in there!
I'll keep looking too! Thanks again friends!

Doug, I have never tied a a pattern that was ribbed with Peacock. Most all my pics were deleted. Here is a Peacock and Partridge which I know is not what you are looking for.

From your description of tye pattern I really do not think I am the tier.

Dubbn,
Not a problem! I really appreciate your efforts on this one! It's a classic case of "I didn't write it down" and now I am paying the penalty! It's purely my loss and again, thank you one and all for the help! Let's call off the dogs on this one! I have wasted enough of your valuable times!
You folks are the best,
Dougsden

Ray,
Thanks for the heads up on how to pair down the search results as you described in an earlier thread. I knew there was a way and you explained it to me in a great way! Thanks again friend!

Doug - Could the fly you are looking for be one of Lance's? I think he posted a couple with light colored bodies and peacock herl rib.

Is this the one?

Or this one?
