Tups Swap Fly - AJ 13

Post by William Anderson » Tue Feb 05, 2013 7:29 pm

Pardon the double post. I just thought it would be appropriate as a dressing here.

Tups Swap Fly - AJ 13

Hook: Daiichi Alec Jackson #13 (seems closer to a size 14 or 15 in other hook models) North Country Spider hook
Thread: Primrose 14/0 Griffiths Sheer
Hackle: Charlie Collins Rusty Medium Dun hen cape
Tail: same, from a lower feather
Abdomen: 3 fibers of dyed sulphur turkey flat twisted with two strands of Primrose Gossamer Silk
Thorax: Tups blend - 1/4 yellow seal, 1/4 claret seal, 1/4 natural pale baby seal, 1/4 natural hare - on a waxed dropped loop after tying off the abdomen.

William,
A very beautiful pattern indeed. So delicate. Remember, the Tups started out as a spinner immitation and therefore more refined and thinner and more delicate...like the creatures themselves! You have done a great job in imm. these qualities to a tee! I like the photo's of the materials laid out as you have! Very nice indeed!

Thanks fellas. How cool is it to see all those Tups variations stacked up in the swap thread. Now for a fair test...a long leader with my pattern on point and 19 droppers just to see which gets the first take. :D

William, you better hope there is no wind the day you try and cast that set-up! :( Nor any of those sneaky trees that run up behind you just as your backcast is straightening out........ Ray knows the trees I mean.

Eric, that's a nice thing to say. I'll be sure to pack several to be sure you do. Or we can tie some at the museum.
