Green Fuzzle Wuzzy Hares Ear

Green Fuzzle Wuzzy Hares Ear
Hook - Mustad R50U / Turned up eye hook / Size 12 (or your choice)
Tying Thread (Body) - UNI-Yarn (Olive) - Pinch dubbed with a fine layer of hares ear dubbing (Natural) - "Fuzzle Style"
Tying Thread (Head) - UNI-Thread (Black) - tyed on after the body is finished, then the UNI-Yarn is tyed in and clipped off
Hackle - Hungarian Partridge - prepared and tyed in by the tip

This is a concept fly. I wanted to see if how the Fuzzle dubbing technique worked on the UNI-Yarn. The UNI-Yarn is mounted into a bobbin and the body is tyed in the same manner as regular thread. Once the thread is at the back of the hook, a thin layer of hares ear dubbing is twisted onto the tying thread (yarn) and wound forward. This looks like a quick and easy way to form buggy bodies.

I like the look of it, Ray. Well done. My wife uses a lot of Uni-Yarn in her steelhead and Atlantic Salmon flies. I guess I'll be stealing some.

Ron - UNI-Yarn works nicely on steelhead patterns. That is what I use it for mostly. It makes a very durable substitute for floss bodies. The flies are fuzzy, instead of glossy, but I don't mind. The fish like the yarn bodies.

Don't let Vicky catch you. ;) :D

Thanks, Ray, for illustrating how easily one can build a body shape with UNI-Yarn or similar material. This particluar color combination is very attractive, and it should produce well for you.

Ray, I can see you knocking a few of these out in a hurry. It's a great pattern. The uni-yarn is something I haven't messed with yet. And if it comes in a large number of colors...I'll be in trouble.

Willaim - Your in trouble. There are many colors to choose from, ranging from natural (browns, olives, black, gray) to gaudy flourescents (yellow, pink, orange, red). I've got the whole set (24 colors) and am in the process of rediscovering how useful it is for small flies. Good stuff.
