It's comforting to learn that I'm not alone in struggling to find the "right" pattern for the PMD swap. Part of this, I think, comes from the fact that I'm not familiar with the actual bug up close and personal. Carl, in addition to being wonderful flies in their own right, these three patterns are going to be a big help, as they speak volumes to me about color shades. I can only hope to end up with something that won't appear completely amateurish by comparison.

Carl, each of these really are nice. I meant to say do earlier. It's a challenge for certain, with the name representing different species and each species varying from region to region. I think I've fooled around more for the PMD swap than any other. I may discount the heavy weight usually put on hatch matching in some respects, but it's also a lot of fun, and I know first hand there are times when it is absolutely necessary. Your flies are a big help.
