I think you'll find that a lot of furnace hackle will have this kind of profile. Much of the water I fish is "high-gradient" and it would definitely suit... and yes it would work very well with the Tenkara... although my Tenkara has been out on loan most of the season, so I can't really give you an honest appraisal ;)

Aaron,
Incredible looking flies! I love their sparsness and so wonderfully tied.
Furnace.....what a great color combo all in one feather. I've been noticing lately a sort of mild resergence of the pattern "Greenwells Glory" and all it's variations. Everyone, please put forth your best G.G. and show us the pictures. I won't be too far behind you. Back to the feathers....I still own a fairly decent furnace hen neck with the exception of most of the size 10's-12's and 14's are gone! I must visit the house of Slattery and/or others soon to fetch another neck which has become the home base for alot of different patterns (including the great Greenwells Glory).
You are an incredibly talented tyer Aaron and it shows forth in your patterns. Please keep us up to date on what you tie and definately keep the eye candy coming!
Yours from the Eastern side of things,
Dougsden
