I prefer mine the way Edmonds & Lee state in their book which has split wings of Starling. In this guise the Greenwell's is one of my most deadliest patterns.

Got around to having a go at this.flyfishwithme wrote:PM Coming your way Andrew

Apologies for posting winged fly etc - but it is a one off...

The wing is formed from a section of a single feather, and folded ('scrunched' would be a better word for my approach! lol) then tied in and split. This was my third attempt - the first two did not warrant close examination! I'm sure I've used the wrong feather for this one, but when I saw its edges tinged like that, it seemed to chime rather well with the Greenwell's hen hackle... and it was the only one of the three where the two wings were anything like even!
Thanks for the instructions in the pm Philip (flyfishwithme) and apologies if I haven't done them justice!
All comments, suggestions etc gratefully received! Bit of a gap in my fly tying education, not being able to tie a wet wing...
