Another great looking fly, William. Keep up the good work. I'll be sharing this thread on our Facebook page.

Thanks, Mark.
I thought I would drop in this pic of the other pattern I was talking about. It's an incredibly effective pattern whether larva are moving or not.

That's a great photo--we have Rhyacophilidae here in the GSMNP, though fewer Hydropsyche since the there's not a lot of algae in these high-pH freestoners.

Simply stunning.
Now give us the details so we can tie up this tasty morsel.

William,
..........Ah....da.....bla-bla......these are the words I am trying to spit out when I look at this beautiful pattern you have created! I well remember the picture you have posted. It's from the great headwaters trip that you and Ray made whilst we were all under the spell of Roscoe!
You guys are simply amazing!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

John, if I remember correctly I left a long tag off the bend of the tying thread, wrapped the stretch material to the thorax then touch dubbed the long tag with a seal and hare blend and brought the dubbed tag up between the wraps. Lots of ways to get this result.
Thanks again for all the kind comments.
