Wow! Ray, I gotta issue you a challenge more often. It may have been a PITA, but it's a brilliant fly. Well done my friend.
As relaxing and focusing as tying is, I can get lost in a casting stroke. Sometimes I'll just stand in the backyard and cast, or even just keep the line in the air, doing what I want it to. Really brings the mind and body into harmony and sharp focus. Turns out it really helps out when I'm on the river as well.
What also works for me is feeling the recoil of my rifle and watching the holes appear in the target 600 to a 1000 yards away.
All three are personnally gratifying for me.

Word!!letumgo wrote: Bill (tye2fish) - You are absolutely right about fly tying being therapeutic. I am going through a particularly rough patch right now. Last Sunday, I sat down to completed my IBF swap flies. When I was done, I realized that tying the flies had put my mind at rest. I find that my mind becomes very focused on the task at hand, and the troubles of the world melts away for a little while. Good therapy & one of the hidden blessings of this hobby.
